Booking Appointments
It is always good to plan ahead (2-6 weeks in advance). Weekend appointments are limited and usually book up weeks in advance.

What To Wear

When planning your portrait session, keep in mind the colors and style of the location where the portrait will be photographed and displayed.  You can bring in colors that will coordinate with your decor.  Safe colors (when going neutral) include white, cream and khaki.

For outdoor sessions neutral colors work well as well as warm tones; brown, reds (dusty), sage green, etc.  Whites are best for storytelling and the dreamy "glow" effect.

Background and Clothing Tones Will Effect Preception

Keep in mind that light clothing against a dark background will draw attention to the outline of the body (which in some cases is great for the effect and story-telling).  The same will result with dark clothing against a light background.  We suggest to wear the same tones as background choice for close-up work, or to draw attention to the face.

Session Fees

Time charge for taking the pictures.  Reserved sessions are to be paid in advance, otherwise due on the day of the session.

Here are some things to remember when planning your photo session.

Do...

Wear simple, solid colored outfits, tradional styles rather than trendy.

Shoes should compliment your clothing.

Makeup should be applied as normal, extra emphasis on the eyes and lips.

Jewelry should be kept to a minimum. Class rings for seniors is okay.

Keep suntans to a minimum.

Bring a brush, comb and powder to keep shine down.

Men need to shave just prior to photo session to avoid the "5 o'clock shadow".

Bring accent pieces for your clothing i.e. scarves, belts, hats.

For seniors, always check with your yearbook advisors on specific dress code requirements.

Don't...

Don't use body glitter.

Avoid clothing that is revealing i.e. low cut, too short.

Don't wear bold patterns in clothing, i.e. stripes, flowers,

it draws attention away from your face.

No bare shoulders or arms.  This type of clothing makes some people look heavy.

Avoid drastic hairstyle changes prior to photo session.

Please, no spray tans.  This type of tanning will make you appear orange in your portraits.

Too sunburned or peeling.  Reschedule your session.

Avoid large, shiny jewelry and large pendants.

Make sure clothing fits well, not too tight or too big.

Eyeglasses, wear contacts if you have them.  Also, bring your eyeglasses anyway, we can use them as a prop in your portraits.
